Top Tips When Traveling

Here are a few tips when traveling:

1. Pack Light

Two things I hate is carrying a lot of stuff and waiting for luggage. That’s why I pack light. The only two bags I take on my travels is hand luggage and a backpack. It’s great as I always have my belongings on me and I get on and off the plane quicker. If you pack smart, then you can pack light.

2. Bring spares

In my backpack, I always bring a spare change of clothes. There’s nothing worse than being on a long haul flight and finding out they have lost your luggage. I make sure I have spare underwear, a jumper or a light jacket and leggings.

3. Make copies of your documents

That includes your passport, driving licence, tickets and insurance. Keep them separate from your actual documentation.

4. Do your research

If you are short on time, do your research before you reach your destination. This can save money and allow you to get more out of your holiday. I always research restaurants, things to do and transportation.

5. Carry Cash

I know cash may seem like a thing of the past thanks to digital payment services like Revolut, but it is always good to have local currencies with you. I always find that most transportation in other countries take cash only!

Don’t rely on technology!

Get a notebook and write things down. I always take a small notepad with the following details:

  • Flight details
  • Important contact numbers i.e. insurance, bank card cancellation, emergency contact etc
  • Hotel name, address, reference number and contact details
  • Directions on how to get to your hotel
  • Local attractions- or places of interest
  • Restaurants

It’s always good to have a back up of the following details on an item that doesn’t require a charger and it comes in handy when reflecting back on exactly where you went on your travels.
